Chronic fatigue: whole-body care for lasting energy.
A gentle, integrated approach for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome at our Highgate Hill clinic.
Chronic fatigue isn't just about being tired, it's a serious condition affecting the body, mind and quality of life. We support recovery with a gentle mix of physiotherapy, acupuncture, clinical Pilates and Chinese herbal medicine.
What Chronic Fatigue Syndrome involves
- Energy: your cells struggling to make enough usable fuel
- Immune system: ongoing, low-level inflammation
- Nervous system: dizziness and brain fog
- Thinking clearly: trouble with memory and focus
Gentle, paced treatment
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also called CFS or ME) is different from being run down or needing an early night. Even everyday activities can trigger a crash of extreme tiredness a day or two later, sometimes lasting for days. That's why exercise can actually make things worse if it's not managed carefully. Movement still matters, but it has to be gentle, personal to you, and paced in small, careful steps so your body isn't pushed past what it can handle that day.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, ongoing exhaustion like this is often described as Qi Deficiency, essentially a depleted energy reserve that needs rebuilding slowly rather than pushed through. Long-term stress is one of the most common drains on that reserve. Acupuncture and herbal medicine work to calm an overactive nervous system and support the body's own energy production, while gentle, closely paced exercise rebuilds strength without triggering a crash.
- Acupuncture
Regulates the immune system, supports deeper sleep and reduces stress.
- Graded physiotherapy
Supports circulation without exhausting the body.
- Clinical Pilates
Gently strengthens the body without triggering flare-ups.

Good questions
Chronic fatigue is isolating, especially when tests come back normal. Here's what to know.
My tests all came back normal, can you still help?
Yes. We look at the whole picture, sleep, digestion, stress and nervous system regulation, not just standard blood test markers.
Will treatment make me more tired?
Treatment is gentle and paced to your energy levels. We use graded approaches specifically to avoid the crashes that push exercise can cause.
How long until I have more energy?
It varies, but many people notice small improvements in sleep and clarity within a few weeks, with energy rebuilding gradually from there.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, you can book directly. A referral is only required for WorkCover, Veterans' Affairs, CTP or a Medicare chronic condition management plan.
Can I claim on my private health fund?
In most cases, yes. The clinic is registered with all major health funds for physiotherapy, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, so most policies allow you to claim on the spot through HICAPS and just pay the gap. Check with your fund to confirm your level of cover.
Should I get blood tests before starting treatment?
Yes, it's worth seeing your GP first. Ongoing fatigue can have several causes, like low iron, thyroid problems or poor sleep, that need to be ruled out or treated medically before other causes are addressed. Physiotherapy and acupuncture work well alongside that medical care, not instead of it.
